Driving operational excellence, on-time delivery, and scalable quality in modular laser welding systems
Philosophy in Departmental Role
“In precision manufacturing, production is the moment of truth: design intent becomes a dependable machine on a customer’s floor. My philosophy is to run production like a disciplined, data-driven service to the market—synchronizing engineering, supply chain, and quality so every laser welding system leaving Maintal is safe, compliant, and production-ready. I use lean manufacturing, OEE-based performance management, and standardized work to compress lead times without compromising reliability. Because Sigma’s portfolio spans fiber-laser systems and lamp-pumped (pulsed) laser systems, plus modular platforms and smart software, our factory model must be equally modular: cells that can flex from one-off special purpose machines to repeatable series builds. We design for manufacturability early, validate processes with PFMEA/Control Plans, and build quality into each station—not at the end with inspection. The result is predictable takt, clean handovers to commissioning, and equipment that performs from day one at the customer site. Above all, production exists to protect Sigma’s promise: innovation, precision, reliability—delivered at scale.”
